Back in the Fall I took my class on a Fall Walk in the park next to our school. I gave them each a Ziploc bag and told them to collect things that are signs of fall. Such as colored leaves, acorns, etc. When we came back to the classroom we read
Leaf Man by Lois Ehlert. Then, I had my students create a leaf creature by arranging and gluing down some of their findings. After making their creature, animal, or person they had to write a story about it. They turned out so cute and much better than I had expected. I know it is almost Spring now but when I saw this in my picture album on my computer as I was flipping through I just had to share it while it was on my mind. Save the idea and use it next Fall if you like it.
